HIGH SCHOOL PUNK ROCK NERD ALERT

Hello Knuckles!

Some days I can't bear putting in my contacts:

(Top, new, H&M; pants, American Apparel; shoes, Sam Edelman; belt, the Alley in Chicago; bracelets, Alex+Ani, F21; glasses, Lenscrafters; purse, Elliott Lucca.  Lips: Cover Girl LipPerfection jumbo gloss balm, Coral Twist #235)

This beautiful new coral lipstick was a recommendation from Erica at Diary of a Trendaholic.  I'd been looking for an orange-tinted shade and this one is perfect.  Thanks Erica!

The belt is from high school, and one of the oldest items I own.  Back then I used to hang out at a biker goth store called The Alley (still around!), which was next to a Dunkin Donuts with a hearse in the parking lot.  This little corner had tons of cool stores, like an army-navy surplus outlet, a super cheap thrift store called Ragstock, and several pre-F21 fast-fashion boutiques.  I bought the belt and my first pair of Docs on this street, which surprisingly hasn't changed too much.  If you had shown me these photos of the current Brass Knuckles back then, I would've been horrified.  Lipstick, long hair and heels?  Actually trying to look pretty?  What a sell-out!

Ahh youth...you're a knee-slapper!

Have a great week, Knuckles!

BEST WEEK EVER

Good morning Knuckles!

I'm going to have the BEST WEEK EVER; I've got my coffee, my power pants and I'm ready to kick this week in the balls:

(Sunnies, Target; blouse, J.Crew; pants, Line+Dot, on sale now at Piperlime; shoes, Sam Edelman; purse, Elliott Lucca; bracelets, Asos, Alex+Ani, F21)

Particularly because it's a short week!  On Friday I meet two of my closest friends, Ms. Howdy and Ms. Pear-in-your-Pocket, in Las Vegas to celebrate Ms. Howdy's birthday.  We already have a burlesque show and some dinner rezzies cued up.  If anyone has a good dinner/brunch recommendation, please let me know!

Have a great week, Knuckles!

I WAS GOING FOR ROMANTIC, AND ENDED UP SEE-THROUGH

Good morning Knuckles!

No full-lengths today because the dress below was see-through and Mr. Brass Knuckles was like Woaw that dress is completely see-through and I was like Ahh you'll never see it in the photos and then I saw the photos and was like Oh I guess it was completely see-through.

(The demurely crossed arms/bag are what's keeping this photo safe for work).
(Not to imply I'm not wearing underwear.  I am definitely wearing underwear.  I have something like 21 pairs of the exact same underwear in 2 colors, black and nude, and let's just say they are very comfortable and very full-coverage).
(So in fact even without the bag it's probably safe for work but it would be mortifying for me).
(Next time I gotta get a slip up in hurr).

(Sunnies, Chanel; top, Akira; dress, Betsey Johnson; shoes, Sam Edelman; purse, Elliott Lucca; bracelets, Alex+Ani, F21, Asos, Target).

Okay, so the response to Shopping My Closet for free was a little insanely overwhelming.  To those of you who e-mailed, commented, etc. thank you for your interest!  Hopefully I was able to get back to everyone.  I will post a few more things this week so please keep checking back.

Have a great week, Knuckles!

A SUMMER SPENT BY THE SEA

Good morning Knuckles!

I never thought I could pull off pink lipstick but I am kind-of loving this new shade:

(Sunnies, YSL; leather jacket, Vince; necklace and shirt, J.Crew; skirt, H&M; tights, Wolford; earrings, Judith Ripka; purse, Elliott Lucca; shoes, Sam Edelman).

Several items in this outfit are NEW, thanks to generous sister-in-laws!  The blouse, necklace, and skirt were holiday gifts, and I paired them with something old.  I got the Vince leather jacket sometime in 2009 and wore it all that summer.  I was living on the beach in L.A. for an internship, and it was the perfect jacket for warm summer evenings over light dresses and shorts.  The sleeve has a small hole; some co-workers and I were in San Diego for Comic-Con and a careless hotel valet shut the trunk door on the jacket.  My boss asked me if I was mad but I was oddly zen about it.  In fact, the hole is now a reminder of the good times that week and friends made that summer.

Have a great weekend, Knuckles!
