CHANNELING THE BAY

Today was slightly cold and a little rainy in Chicago, and it felt a bit like San Francisco.  We decided to take the kids to the aquarium, and I pulled out a dress I haven't worn since I lived in the Bay Area.

I remember buying this dress.  Two of my best friends and I took the Cal-Train from Palo Alto up to the Esprit outlet store in San Francisco sometime junior year.  I remember spending over $100 that day, which was an enormous sum of money.  This was in the day and age of Ross Dress For Less, after all.  I got so much good stuff from that store!  Seriously, I think a Ross Dress for Less opened up around here and even though I am not buying any clothes I am tempted to check it out.

That summer I had a boyfriend who lived on the corner of Haight and Ashbury, and I wore this dress religiously up and down the Haight.  I paired it with a white, cropped Old Navy hoodie that I eventually had to toss due to some outrageously stubborn pit stains.  I believe I was wearing this outfit when we were hanging out in his room and out of nowhere someone on the street threw a giant, half-eaten, dessicated sausage through his window, shattering the glass, landing in the middle of the room, and causing us to completely freak out.

I hauled this dress from San Francisco to New York to Chicago because I couldn't bear to throw it away.  Though I have to say, it wasn't the most practical choice for the aquarium (or rather, the mad rush through the rain from the aquarium to the parking lot).

Anyhow, it was a lovely day for climbing,

holding hands with Dora,

and of course, seeing some fish.

Good night, little Knuckles!
